When shopping for a woman for Valentine’s Day, men can always rely on that quick stop to the grocery store to pick up some flowers and a box of chocolates. But what if you are shopping for a vegan woman? Sure, the flowers will do, but what about the chocolate? Do they even sell vegan chocolate at the store?
The experienced vegan knows all too well about where you can and can’t find vegan goodies, especially around the holidays. But if you are new to being vegan and you are looking for something special for Valentine’s, it can be hard.
This is where most people turn to online shopping. While I can totally find some vegan chocolate in the stores, it can be a hit or miss with some brands. I continue to be shocked and annoyed that big star candy companies, such as Hershey’s have yet to come out with a line of dairy-free kisses or bars. More and more people are waking up, not only to the horrors of the meat and dairy industry, but also how their bodies react to constant dairy consumption. I know a handful of people in my life who aren’t “vegan,” but certainly are starting to question how much dairy is in their diet.
So, back to the chocolate. Below is a list of my top ten FAVORITE chocolates. A few of these brands also make things like dairy-free chocolate chips, milks, and ice cream. However, for the sake of Valentine’s Day, I tried to keep it to things you could gift.
I know the first few times I shopped for my kids after I went vegan, I struggled finding vegan candy for them, specifically chocolate. I wasn’t able to get them some of the more “fun” packaged chocolates, such as coins or rabbits or heart shaped boxes. This is when I would turn to my kitchen and make it myself. However, as the years go by, there certainly has been an increase in dairy-free sweets, and for that, I’m forever grateful.
So if you’re stuck for a Valentine’s Day gift, try to snag up one of these goodies! If you order through Amazon, you can totally get them before the big day. Top 10 Vegan Chocolate Gifts for Valentine’s Day!
I love all of the vegan options this company provides, but the dark chocolate squares hold a special place in my heart! I’ve ordered these for Halloween a few times, as well as other holidays. The great part about these squares is that they are individually packaged, giving you that “feel” of mini chocolate candies.
These. Are. So. Good. I had to force myself to put them down and walk away, before I ate the entire bag by myself. I’m a HUGE mint chocolate fan, so these really hit that sweet spot:) They also have a handful of other flavors that I’m sure any vegan would enjoy.
Speaking of enjoy, I have been a hardcore fan of Enjoy Life’s chocolate chips for a long time, so I was ecstatic when I finally tried their chocolate bar for the first time. It’s definitely got that creamy feel to it, which is wonderful. The packaging is also cute, making it a perfect Valentine’s gift for any vegan lady or child.
If you want to make something for your vegan sweetie, try using this dark chocolate peanut butter in my recipe for Vegan Crispy Treats! I love all of PB & Co’s vegan peanut butters- I could eat an entire jar by itself!
For the healthy vegan, try using raw chocolate to win their heart. I use cacao powder in SO many recipes and everyday smoothies! Certainly a keeper to any health nut. Use it in my recipe for Raw Chocolate & Peanut Butter Pretzel Cups (No-Bake, Ready in 15 min!).
If you’re not looking for powder, and prefer something more solid, try these raw nibs. You can use them for a number of raw food recipes, or just throw them in some healthy trail mix.
These cookies are AMAZING. They are bigger than the palm of my hand and make a great treat for any child. I particularly favor the double chocolate, but there are a variety of flavors to choose from. These cookies also pack a lot of protein, so they have that little health kick to them!
What vegan doesn’t like chocolate with coconut? Coconut makes the bar a little creamy, making it a good substitute for cow’s milk. Theo also has a few other options for vegans, including a spicy bar that is absolutely delicious!
For those that love oldskool Oreos, Newman’s Own is a life-saver! When my kiddos want something sweet, it’s one of the few treats that is pre-approved. Try the original O’s or grab a bag of double chocolate or peanut butter chocolate.
Mmmm, vegan chocolate bars. This is one of those rare bars that prides itself on being completely dairy free. The “Dream” company has produced many great vegan products, including milks and ice creams. It’s wonderful they also have a chocolate bar for the candy lovers too.
